Structure & Materials

1. What is a mailer box?

A mailer box is a one-piece corrugated folding carton with a tuck-in lid and auto-lock crash bottom. It assembles in seconds without tape or glue, making it ideal for ecommerce shipping and subscription boxes.

Commonly used for ecommerce, subscription services, and direct-to-consumer shipping

2. How is a mailer box different from a folding carton?

Mailer boxes use corrugated board for shipping durability, while folding cartons typically use paperboard for retail display. Mailer boxes feature a crash-lock bottom that pops into place without tape.

Mailer boxes are designed specifically for shipping protection and easy assembly

3. What materials are used to make mailer boxes?

Mailer boxes use corrugated board, typically E-Flute (1.5mm) for lightweight strength. The exterior is printed directly on white-lined board.

E-Flute provides excellent cushioning while keeping shipping costs low

4. Are mailer boxes custom sized?

Yes. Every mailer box is custom-made to your product dimensions.

  • Length, width, and height are tailored to fit
  • Lid depth can be adjusted for deeper or shallower opening
  • Auto-lock bottom designed for your product weight

Custom sizing reduces void fill and shipping costs

5. Are mailer boxes eco-friendly?

Yes. Mailer boxes are made from recyclable materials:

  • 100% recyclable corrugated board
  • FSC-certified paper options available
  • Water-based inks and coatings
  • Biodegradable and compostable

Sustainable packaging is standard for mailer boxes

Printing, Finishing, & Customization

1. Can I print on the inside and outside of the box?

Mailer boxes typically print on the outside only, with the inside remaining natural kraft brown for cost efficiency.

  • Outside printing – full color CMYK
  • Inside printing available upon request for premium unboxing

Inside printing is popular for subscription boxes and premium brands

2. What finishes are available for mailer boxes?

Mailer boxes support several protective and decorative finishes:

  • Matte or gloss lamination
  • Aqueous coating (eco-friendly, water-based)
  • UV coating for high-gloss areas

Matte and aqueous coatings are most popular for shipping durability

3. What embellishments can be added?

Embellishments are available to enhance your brand:

  • Spot UV for logo highlights
  • Foil stamping (gold, silver, custom colors)
  • Embossing or debossing for texture

Spot UV and foil are ideal for premium ecommerce brands

4. Are inserts available for mailer boxes?

Yes. Inserts help secure products during shipping:

  • Die-cut paperboard inserts
  • Foam or molded pulp cushioning
  • Tissue paper or branded wraps
